Bars & Clubs in Chester to visit on your Hen Night!

This post is a work in progress as we make our way (bar crawl) around Chester town in pursuit of a good time!

Entertaining a hen party in Chester is a bit of a tricky one.

Our city has a wealth of uber modern, intimate swanky joints to swill wine in after a long day/week or go out for a fabulous ladies evening of cocktails.  And honestly, there’s nowhere like it – it’s just such a beautiful place.

But not everywhere in Chester is up for a wild night of feather clad, willy wearing riot girls tearing up the dance floors!  Chester’s just not that kind of place.

Chester’s clubs, bars and pubs have varying degrees on how Hen friendly they are, and the venue’s we’ve listed here are certainly places well worth visiting on your Hen Night, though they all have some sort of restrictions.

Cruise Nightclub

Why We Like It:

Ok so this one is the obvious choice, it is without doubt THE place to go in Chester.

The place is immense, there are four bars and two nightclubs INSIDE this one absolutely stunning venue – and no expense has been spared on making it world class throughout.  We’ll let the pictures do the talking.

When celebrities visit Chester – this is where they go for a night out, and if you contact the venue directly – you can party like one with your own VIP booth.

However Cruise is NOT a hen friendly club (and you kinda can’t blame them) and this is why we haven’t given it 5 stars.  They also do not work with Hen Party professionals, which means that discounts for Hen groups are not available.

By all means, go here as an organised group, call in advance and get booked in with a queue jump and VIP booth but this is not the kind of place that will let you in wearing plastic willies and feather boa’s.  They won’t be tolerating any rowdy or lewd behaviour either.

Telford’s Warehouse

Why We Like It:

Superbly located on the canal basin this spacious pub enjoys many original features with high ceiling, exposed timbers and brick walls housing industrial artefacts, while the feature glass frontage provides a tranquil scene overlooking the water.

Upstairs is a popular restaurant and contemporary art gallery with relaxed attentive service, excellent menu and weekly specials. Telford’s lower area is reserved for its highly regarded music nights.

Although Hen Parties are welcome at Telford’s, fancy dress and lewdness is not.  And sadly, they don’t do offers on food or drinks either (We did try!).

But the reasons we like Telford’s for a Hen Party location are that it’s just off the city center, away from the madness if you and you’re group are just not into the main party strip circus, it’s sat right on the canal so on a summer’s eve it’s the perfect place to sit, drink and watch the city, but we also love the spacious, relaxed, indie atmosphere as a place to enjoy good food, a few drinks, and great live music.

BarLounge

Why We Like It:

BarLounge is Chester’s answer to ‘Cheers’ – it’s the hub of Chester’s cultural scene, and a place where someone always knows your name, only posher.  At some point in every Cestrian’s life, they have ended up spending an evening at BarLounge.

Barlounge doesn’t really do Hen Parties in the way of group bookings, offers or fancy dress (sorry), BUT we have listed it here as a decent place to go on your Hen Night anyway because of the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere, the high quality, quirky menu, and the buzz we get from just being there.

Outside of the Bar is as popular as inside the bar for al fresco dining and socialising whatever the weather, under the outdoor canopies, with heated tables space and pretty trees covered in tiny white twinkle lights.
